Costa Rica: EARTH University Scholarships

Overview

The Open Society Foundations, in collaboration with EARTH University, provide five four-year undergraduate scholarships for students from Haiti and five for students from Liberia and Sierra Leone to study at EARTH University, Costa Rica. EARTH University offers a bachelor of science degree with a focus on natural resource management and social entrepreneurship.

EARTH University provides an innovative curriculum focused on leadership, agricultural study, and community development to emerging young leaders to enable them to confront the social and environmental challenges of their home countries in tangible and socially responsive ways. During the program, students apply their learning through collaborative group projects, local field work and a mandatory internship in their third year. The training helps equip individuals to return to their home countries to help alleviate poverty and encourage sustainable development.
